The Seoul Olympics was the largest in Seoul in 1988, and Korea ranked fourth overall.

About 160 countries participated in the Seoul Olympics, and it became a symbol of global change, with the collapse of the communist camp and the unification of the divided country after the war, making the second-largest net profit in history among the 24 Summer Olympics. 

When it first hosted the Seoul Olympics, the conditions were so bad that it was said that Japan asked for a big deal to host the Asian Games instead of giving up the Olympics, but in the end, it did well to host both the Asian Games and the Olympics.
